French catholic church book, illustrated with multiple attractive coloured lithographs and several prints between the text. Bound in a special velvet binding richly decorated with silver. The silver fittings consisting of a broad four-sided border around the front and back cover, a head and tail band, title on spine, a crowned monogram on the front cover and two clasps. The silver monogram spells ‘LS’ as the Missel was owned by Louise de Gramont, a noblewoman from France. It was gifted to her as a wedding present by Magdalena Sophie Barat (1779-1875) also known as Madame Barat, fondatrice du Sacre Coeur. Comes with a lovely decorated leaflet with a dedication from Madame Barat.)
