Rectangular shaped box with its top lid hinged with two pink silk ribbons, opening to reveal a visually striking fitted interior with a flat mirror plate framed by a polychrome geometric pattern to inside of open the lid, two-needle cushions, three lidded compartments all of which can be lifted including a larger central lidded compartment, all decorated with various coloured views of rural buildings. Two hidden small movable compartments. The top lid with a large coloured view of a coastal town and a ship anchored in the harbor. The sides are also decorated with a polychrome geometric pattern. With only minor loss or defects to the straw lining.

Typically, the straw used is rye straw cultivated and harvested in Burgundy, France. The straw is dried and dyed, then opened and flaw in the artisan’s workshop. A beautiful and well-preserved sewing box decorated with coloured marquetry.
