Corfmat” stamped in gilt on spine, doublures, red watered silk endpapers, gilt edges (upper inner hinges split, but silk cords holding, joints a little rubbed, minor old repairs at the head of spine). Provenance: old illegible inscription on front free endpaper. The British Library contains 7 bindings by Corfmat, which are part of the Charles Ramsden Collection of Signed Bindings. They appear in the catalogue with the following note: “According to the directories, J. Corfmat first appears at [Rue] St. Jacques 110 in 184,0, where he continued till 1843. His favourite decoration is \u00e0 la rocaille.<\/p>\n
